Changes to my study program

Image
I am not totally sure what to change in the entire anthropology curriculum, I am just beginning my career, however, something that I noticed that did not convince me was the theoretical focus of this third semester. I think it was vitally important to have a more diverse approach this semester because next year we will have to choose the way that we would like to follow, in other words, we will have to choose between anthropology, archeology and physical anthropology. I know that the pandemic factor complicates the application of technical or field study methods, among many more, however, I feel that the first year of the degree managed, in a better way, to represent these methods or something of them, which the semester I’m finishing today couldn't get.  Another thing that might change in my career would be the excessive study of authors. I do not want to be misinterpreted because I think it is very important to study a great variety of authors, however, I believe that it's

Postgraduate studies

Nowadays, I am still not very clear about what postgraduate studies to do, if I do any, but I have some ideas. I would love to do a postgraduate degree in documentary film or something similar, even if isn't have a direct link with anthropology, because, as I mentioned in my last post, I think is important to illustratively document the problems and situations that surround the anthropological field and show them to the people through a pleasant but, at the same time, informative medium. In this postgraduate, I would be interested in learning cinematographic concepts such as the different planes and sequences of motion, as well as how to structure a script and how to get your message across to the audience. I'm still undecided on where I would like to study. I have the possibility to study abroad, more precisely in France, because I have completed and approved the BAC, a certificate which allows me to study in that country and in different universities in multiple countries, bu

My Future Job

First of all, i would love to work in a outdoors job because i don't like to be locked up in a room all day. For this last, i would like a job where i travel but not a lot, i like to spend some time with my family and friends so a job with a excessive traveling it would take me this time. About the salary, I would not like to earn the minimum wage but I am not looking t o generate too much money, so a salary that is arround the amount of seven hundred or eight hundred it would be very fine. I would like to add and talk about that in my career we can chose a speciality between archeology, anthropology and physical anthropology. In my case, i think i will choose anthropology because i like the filosophical area of this career and all the mystery that surrounds the human being. Finally, i would like to do some post-studies related to the cinema or documentary film area, the reason is that i think is important to illustratively document the problems and situations that surround the an

What's like to study anthropology in a virtual way?

Since 2020 I have been studying anthropology / archeology. Why I studied this career is not even clear to myself, I was very lost in what to study, however I was always interested in human thought and its formation, in addition to philosophy, so anthropology was not a bad option, so I decided to enter in this career. However, I find the surprise that I will have to start, without even knowing that it would be longer than I thought, the online study modality. From my honest opinion, the quality of teaching is of a lower quality than if it were face-to-face, in addition to having lost a lot of time and experiences from field trips. However, I still think that studying this career online today has some good aspects and good teachings. In other side, it should be noted that I am more focused on anthropology rather than archeology. In my opinion, the latter science mentioned has been affected in a greater way than anthropology. Finally, I want to emphasize that, more than education, the pa

The pandemic problems

The arrival of the pandemic also meant the arrival of multiple problems. From my point of view, the four big problems caused by the pandemic were; Obviously, the health problems either due to the covid or the mental health complications that many people have experienced due to the quarantine or the pandemic itself. Another would be the large amount of unemployment that caused the quarantine again, which has left many people in poverty. Finally, the last big problem would be the improvised adaptation of the health, educational and political systems, among much others, to the virtual world because, due to the suddenness of the pandemic, they were not prepared. However, these adaptations meant a change in how people live. Among these changes we can note an increase in the use of technologies, the use of masks and the emergence of teleworking. For me, the post-pandemic life it will be not so happy, because although, obviously, people are going to be happy with the end of it, I think that

The best holidays ever!!

Choosing the best hollidays of my life is difficult, but I think that one that marked me the most was one of the few times that I have left Chile, the time I went to Paraguay. I made this trip with my grandparents of my mother's side and my sister in 2017, staying for 2 weeks in the country in different hotels, visiting awesomes iconic parts such as the capital Asuncion, the Iguazu Falls and the White Lagoon. Also, we take profit of visiting distinctive museums in which I learned a lot about the Guarani culture and the country itself. On the other hand, we also managed to see and be impressed with the vast and beautiful areas of endemic fauna and flora of the country. I think that at that time the best thing about the trip for me was precisely the above mentioned, to see the nature of the country, with its animals and unique flowers, such as the yacare caiman or the koati. However, today I think that the best part of the trip was to spend pleasant moments with my grandfather, who

The trip I've always wanted to have.

If I had the opportunity to travel to any country I wanted, I would probably choose France.  I would choose this country because my parents and grandparents were exiled to this place during the dictatorship, so they lived a great number of years there. I would love to visit the places where they lived as well as explore the many cities, museums and monuments of the country that have always fascinated me. It should be added that I studied at the Alianza Francesa high school in Chile, so my knowledge of France is extensive because I had to study the language, history, geography, philosophy and many more aspects of the country.  In relation to the above, studying at that school made me make many friends who live in France today, so I would also love to go there to visit them. All these aspects make me want to live, or at least work for a while, in France, in addition to the fact that, due to my family's exile, I have French nationality so I would have access to many social facilities
